Embracing Cultural Activism for a Safe and Just World

TOWARDS A GLOBAL MOVEMENT

Arts and culture are not the panacea for environmental justice and other social change to happen at the scale and speed necessitated by realities of the world. Artivism is where art and activism unite to inspire and transform.

For decades, passionate changemakers all over the world have harnessed arts power to convey profound messages, spark critical conversations, and reshape our communities. The immersive experiences of the arts and culture, however, powerfully touch people’s hearts and move people to make sense of issues as well as inspire action.

This conference aims to be an immersive experience that nurtures the global Artivism movement.

CONNECTION | EXPLORATION | ACTION

THE INAUGURAL GLOBAL ARTIVISM CONFERENCE 2024 aims to champion cultural activism and embrace the dynamic intersection of the arts and activism, highlighting the pivotal role of creative expression in advocating for societal and environmental issues.

The Artivism Conference will not only spotlight the critical role of the arts in addressing pressing global challenges but also reinforce the importance of cross-sector partnerships in driving sustainable change. In the vibrant tapestry of Africa’s cultural landscape, where diversity and creativity intersect, Artivism emerges as a powerful force for societal transformation.

Participants can look forward to a rich programme featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, interactive workshops, performances, and art exhibitions, all designed to inspire and empower attendees to harness the arts as a tool for social and environmental advocacy. The conference will also serve as a platform for networking, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among artists, scholars, activists, and students from around the globe.
